Welcome to Pentire Class

What a fantastic start it has been to the new school year for Pentire class with plenty of excited children greeting me on their first day back. The children’s final year at St Columb Major Academy will bring many exciting activities and challenges. With this in mind, we focused on growth mindset this week, understanding what it takes to be a successful learner. The children showed exceptionally positive attitudes to learning when completing their spaghetti tower challenges. Using only spaghetti, marshmallows and jelly babies, the children had to work in teams to create the tallest tower that was cost effective. I was so proud of the teamwork, perseverance and problem solving skills shown by the whole class. We launched the year’s maths learning today with a maths hunt. The children had to use clues to locate a series of maths challenges scattered around the school and solve the challenges in teams. Well done to all the teams who took part. Have a look at some photos of Pentire’s first week back in school below.

For this week's homework, the children can choose one option from the homework grid to complete. The homework will be due in by Friday 22nd September. Please see the attached homework grid if you are missing a copy.
