In line with government guidance, from September we will be welcoming all registered pupils to our schools.

Wk ending 3rd November 2017

What a busy first week back after half term!
On Tuesday we set up some Halloween activities that would support their areas of development. To promote their fine motor skills and creativity they explored 'spiders playdough' where they had to create their own spiders by manipulating the playdough and using googly eyes and pipe cleaners for legs. There was also a spiders web full of bugs that had been caught and the children needed to use the tweezers to pluck the bugs to safety!
Wednesday saw us introduce our new topic 'Animals' with Animal dress up day. Well done to everyone and thank you for all of your efforts on the children's costumes, they all looked great! We had a brilliant day with animal themed activities. We even discussed which of us were herbivores, carnivores and omnivores!! We will be continuing to develop the children's knowledge on classifications and habitats of animals this half term.
Thursday and Friday we watched some firework videos and talked about how they sounded and what they looked like. Some of the words the children came up with were fantastic. 'Pop', 'sparkly', 'bang', 'pretty', 'shiny', 'beautiful' and 'glittering' are just a few. Many of the children had a go at writing some of these words too - they can be seen on our classroom window along with some of our firework art and crafts.
Read, Write, Inc is going really well and some children are writing words using the sounds we have learnt! Many parents said how children are coming home and talking about the new sound we learn each day which is fantastic!
This week in maths we have been learning one more, and one less than a given number. They are doing really well with their maths and it would be great if you could continue some of their learning at home.
Finally, I'd like to say a big thank you for making the time to attend parents consultations this week. I hope it provided you with an understanding of how well they have all settled in and getting on.
