Happy Summer Holiday - keep safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing children and families back to school on Thursday 5th September 2019

Wk ending 30.11.18

Congratulations to our award winners this week, for their hard work, perseverance and brilliant work in maths.
During literacy this week we have had a fun week learning about features in a written news report. We started by learning about the 5 W's (Who, What, When, Where and Why). We then completed a question and answer session, asking witnesses about their experiences after an event had happened. Some of the childrens questioning and answers were brilliant. This helped us with knowing what to write in a witness statement. We have also learnt what punctuation is needed for speech.
In maths this week we have been learning Roman Numerals and working calculations out in Roman Numerals. We might even start writing the date like this as they were all so amazing at it!
In science we created our own water cycle experiment, where we poured some water into a big bowl, leaving a smaller bowl inside it with clingfilm on the top. We created two identical experiments, but they have been put in different conditions. One is in the cold. The other is in the warm. We will see on Monday whether they experiments have worked.
During topic we learnt about dams, and why we build them. We then tried to find a solution to a scenario where a dam had collapsed.
We will be planning our own written news article next week so come prepared with some ideas.
Our new words of the week will be: eight, eighth, height, reign, weight.
