This week Tolcarne have been learning, by heart, a 400 word story. What a challenge!
The story is called 'The Lion and the Unicorn'. It is based on a child who gets evacuated and realises that he is braver than he knew. They have been told the story and now they will be working on learning it through imagery. The storyboard that they are learning from is in the attachment below.
They have identified key phrases in the text that they specifically like and explained why they liked it.
We have learnt about the key facts as to how WWII began and specific dates. The children should now know this, ask them...
They have also identified key events during WWII and created a timeline.
In maths we have revised roman numerals and put them into calculations. Also, reading word problems and identifying whether to round the answer up or to round it down.
Art with Mrs. Kent, the children have been studying war time images of bombed sites. They have focused on different shadings within the detail.
