In line with government guidance, from September we will be welcoming all registered pupils to our schools.

Wk ending 15th September 2017

What a busy week we have had in Fistral class!
On Monday and Tuesday we had groups of children out visiting our Forest school with Miss Small and Mrs Allen. The children came back in high spirits after finding a frog and were keen to share the news with their friends. Each child talked in detail about their time at Forest School using their journey stick and loved having a momento to take home to share with their mums and dads.
In Literacy we learnt the story 'Supertato'. When we read the story for the first time we made predictions about what would happen. There were some very creative ideas. We then went on to produce story maps and even created our own Supertato (using real potatoes!!)
In Maths we focussed on place value and  learnt how to use the whole part model to find out what makes up a two digit number. We then used what we had learnt to solve problems and answer questions which involved reasoning. Next week we will continue to focus on place value but look more closely at comparing numbers and objects.
Our Science lesson was great fun. We learnt about gravity and how Sir Isaac Newton made his initial discovery. Using spinners and paper clips we investigated whether weight had an impact on how quickly things fell to the floor.
Don't forget that homework needs to be handed in on Monday. Quickfire Tests will take place on Tuesday and spellings will be tested on Wednesday.
We are learning 'Cauliflowers Fluffy' for our Harvest Festival performance at the church. See the link below if you'd like to have a go at learning the words.
