Since the start of this term we have thrown ourselves wholeheartedly into our new topic of Vikings. Our Literacy story is 'How to Train a Dragon' and this week we imagined a colossal sea dragon had washed up beside our Viking village. We made plans of how we would get rid of it and then presented them to the class. The winning idea was to put rocks in the dragons mouth and use gunpowder to make him sneeze, causing him to choke. Other ideas included trapping him in a net and catapulting him out to sea; creating a model of a female sea dragon to lure him away; or just trapping him with nets or ropes and dragging him away using boats.
In maths, we have been revising what we know about the place value of numbers and practising completing number sequences, sometimes using negative numbers. We have also practised solving different problems using our understanding of place value.
Our class newsletter for this half term was sent home on Thursday. Below is a copy for your information.
