Congratulations to our award winners for their hard work in maths.
We had a busy but exciting week. With Harvest Festival on Monday, where we sand our 'It's Harvest Time' song brilliantly, and our DT topic day on Tuesday.
On our topic day we made our own tin mine landscapes using sewing and the applique technique (where one piece of fabric is sewn on top of another), they look amazing! We also had a go at making a wind-up toy out of paper cups, cardboard, elastic bands and paperclips. Some of the wind-up mechanisms need a little bit of tweaking but we did have a couple work and move.
During literacy this week we finished writing our own tin mine disaster stories using description of senses to help create the setting, use of similes and metaphors too. In maths we have all been working hard on counting forwards and backwards in 25's and 6's using lots of different techniques.

We ended our week learning some traditional folk songs, singing them and understanding the different parts that make up a song such as the beat, pitch and dynamics.
Next week is Active and Healthy Week, we will be looking at what we can do to be healthy.
We will be joined on Monday by Paralympian Melissa Reid who will be talking to us in assembly then spending time with each year group. We will also be trying Golf, Dance and Skateboarding. Please send your child to school in clothing suitable for sporting activities.
Please come and join us on Wednesday afternoon where we will be looking at how to improve a client's fitness and health. Parents are welcome from 1:30 - 3pm.
We will then be breaking up for half term on the Thursday and returning to school on Tuesday 30th October.
