Week Ending 8th June 2018

Welcome back! We hope you had a good week for half term. And now the end of a week all geared up and working hard.

In Literacy we have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears but concentrating on what Goldilocks did next. The story we read said she grew up into a fine young woman and had many adventures so we discussed what one of those might be and are writing about it in our focused writing session and over the next couple of weeks.

Maths we looked at time. Based around the story of the Bad Tempered Ladybird we explored analogue clocks telling the'o'clock' times. (We also painted the animals from the story) We also looked at activities we all do, sequenced through the day and put some times to these. We have also covered the important times of the school day, e.g. starting school, lunch & home time!
We also looked at positional language - on; under; in front; behind; next to; beside; in; between.

In the class the children have enjoyed making long tracks with the train, running all over the classroom.
And they have really enjoyed making channels for the marble run. It's quite small so they have been practising working together rather than trying to make their own runs. Sharing the marbles has been more challenging!

In PE we went over to the field and practised lots of skills with lots of different equipment. We use: bats and balls; footballs; quoits; hockey sticks and balls; sacks for sack racing; and egg and spoon equipment. Everybody had a great time.
We also combined our Maths and PE by timing some of the egg & spoon practices - gosh we're good!
