Week ending 7th December 2018

Well Christmas is certainly upon us!

We have had a very festive week that began with the arrival of our mischievous Elf on the Shelf. We have named him 'Jingles.' He is watching the children carefully to ensure they are behaving and staying on the nice list!!

It was great to see so many of you at the open afternoon to make decorations for the tree. It was a busy and very glittery afternoon. The children enjoyed working with their adults.

The Christingle service went smoothly, despite the weather trying to dampen things. Thank you for your flexibility for the sudden change of venue. The children listened and sang beautifully.

We practiced our Nativity on the stage this week which has gone well. The singing is loud and clear and is filling the hall space. They are very excited about the performance next week.

We have been learning to play different ball games outside this week such as football, throwing and catching, skittles and boules. The children enjoyed the teamwork elements and getting to know rules for new games and activities.

In Maths this week we have been learning about money and shopping. We talked about pennies and how to count the correct number of penny coins to pay for toys. We talked about adding when we buy two objects. The children also learnt how to record this as a number story and practiced using language such as add, equals, altogether.

We look forward to more Christmas fun next week as we plan to write our letters to Santa, make Christmas cards, eat our Christmas dinner and perform our Nativity.
