Happy Summer Holiday - keep safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing children and families back to school on Thursday 5th September 2019

Week Ending 7.9.18

Welcome to the first blog of the year for Fistral Class. Each week we will update you with everything that has been happening and all the exciting learning the children have been involved in.
We spent most of Wednesday becoming familiar with our new classroom environment and learning lots of new routines. In Literacy, the children did some fantastic writing about all the things they DIDN'T do this summer, like flying to Pluto and have picnics with aliens or swimming with magical mermaids in the deep, blue sea. They had brilliant suggestions and really let their imaginations run wild. In Maths, we focused on finding missing numbers in a 100 square and making sure we formed our digits correctly.
On Thursday, our focus turned to Nocturnal animals and our new night-time topic. We made hedgehogs and owls out of paper plates and crepe paper. We thought of questions we would like to ask to over the next few weeks and some of us wrote them on thought bubbles to go up on the display.
We practiced our handwriting today, making sure we started our letters in the correct position and keeping it on the lines. This afternoon we learnt strategies to deal with our worries. Mrs Milsom introduced us to our class worry monster. Ask us what we have to do when we feel worried in class and how the worry monster can help.
A swimming letter came home tonight. Please make sure you complete and return early next week so we can ensure that the children are put in the correct swimming group and we have all the relevant information for them.
The children have settled brilliantly into life in Year 2 and have impressed Mrs Milsom greatly, with their awesome attitudes to learning.
