Happy Summer Holiday - keep safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing children and families back to school on Thursday 5th September 2019

Week ending 5th October 2018

This week in Porthcothan we have been practising for our Harvest festival celebrations whereby we have learnt songs, created a poem to before and have made vegetables out of natural materials. We are very excited about our trip with year 2 on Monday.
We have become reporters this week literacy and our classroom as been our office. The children have been paid with dojos and we have had to have our eyes and ears alert to breaking news! We have written an article about the adventures of Supertato and the mischievous evil pea, ensuring that they had a bold and catchy title.
We then consider a real life hero that we have been learning about- we identified the facts we know about Florence Nightingale considering Who? What? When? to help us plan a news report about her.
In Maths we have started to learn about addition. We took our learning outdoors to add different values together- we sang "add the parts to make the whole" as we added leaves and blades of grass together.
In Pe, we raised our heart rate with various cardio movements before trying some yoga and mindfulness to cool down.
