Week ending 29th September

At the end of another busy week in Porthcothan, it is safe to say that we have been very productive!

This week in Literacy we have been using our own ideas to write our own versions of the Tin Forest story. We have had the 'peaceful pets' to look after and help whilst we tried our best to  write letters on the line, use finger spaces and listen for the sounds in words to help with spelling.

Next week we will be looking back at our writing to reflect and set our own targets

In maths, we have been learning about one more and one less. We have used various amounts of objects and numerals to determine 'greater' and 'fewer' as well as using < > and = symbols to compare values.

During Science, we predicted where rain comes from and then learnt about the water cycle. We have started to plan an investigation to see if the same amount of rain falls across different areas around the school-for once, we will be hoping for rain next week!

In our art lesson, we discovered the difference between a portrait and a self-portrait and looked at some famous artists work. We chose two portraits that we liked and explain why.
