Week ending 23rd March 2018

In Literacy, we  have been continuing our work on adventure stories and have begun to write our own stories. We have planned using pictures and basic notes then spent today's lesson just writing the opening of the story introducing our character and setting. We are focussing on presentation by ensuring that we start and finish our letters in the correct place and join our writing if we are able to.
In Maths we have introduced the Bar Model for fractions working out 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 and then moving onto finding 2/3 and 3/4. We've done a great job at trying to use this method with many successes in the class. We will continue to develop our use of the bar model as we move through the year.
In our History, we have been learning about Neil Armstrong and comparing him to Christopher Columbus. Ask us to see what we have remembered about them.
We have been catching up on our end of term reading and maths tests and our Accelerated reading star tests.
Next week is the start of the Easter holidays. We finish at 2pm on Wednesday.
On Monday you will receive a mid-year report which will let you know how your child is getting on in Year 2. You will been given teacher assessments of their progress and attainment in Literacy, Maths and Reading, this relates to where they are at this point in the year.
On Tuesday it is the Easter Fayre after school and parents are invited from 1:30pm to decorate eggs in the classroom. PLEASE SEND CHILDREN IN WITH A BOILED EGG on Tuesday Morning.
