Parent Open Afternoon has changed from Monday 1st July to Monday 8th July, this is due to Active Week

Week ending 21st September 2018

Well done to Ky and Grace for becoming our class school councillors.
Well done to Harmony and Armaan for your dojo certifates this week!
This week in Porthcothan has been filled with positivity, perseverance and passion for learning!
In maths this week we have looked at identifying one more and one less from numbers within 100. Some children challenged themselves to identify one more and less from numbers above 100 too! We used cubes, 100 squares and pictures to help us see the value to then calculate less or more.
In literacy this week, were using our own ideas to change parts of our class text 'Supertato'. We had a lot to remember as we worked towards making sure our writing can be read and has clear finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. Towards the end of the week we learnt about how to give more detail in sentences using verbs- we watched a partner do different things to verbally make a sentence that makes sense, using a verb.
During PE, we built on our ball skills and practiced preparing to throw and catch a ball, using all of our body.We also used our bodies to show different types of emotions. We became superheros who had to rush to the rescue as well as summon up lots of power and strength by using our imagination.
We continued our topic learning about Florence Nightingale and worked together to recall what we know and then record it in to a fact sheet about who she was and why she is famous.
Another super busy week of learning!
