Parent Open Afternoon has changed from Monday 1st July to Monday 8th July, this is due to Active Week

Week Ending 19th October 2018

I know it's always a 'busy week' in Watergate according to this (and it always is - honest!) but this week has been a really busy week in Watergate!
We've done a lot of different things for 'Active & Healthy Week'.
We started the week with yoga which went really well. The children listened well to instructions, followed them all well and came out of the session in a very calm state of mind.
We had a visit from the paralympian Melissa Reid on Monday which was very interesting. The children enjoyed looking at her medal, mascot and looking through the goggles which replicate her sight. Fascinating.
We had a visit from the Brighter Smiles unit to talk about tooth health - healthy and unhealthy food & drink for teeth and how to look after them.
Boccia was the activity on Wednesday - a sort of bowls or boules. It's a game developed for para-sport so we did some sitting bowling and some standing when trying to knock down skittles with a big jangly ball. Again, the children reacted very well to the coach's instructions and a great time was had by all.
The open afternoon for family to join us went well. I hope those who were able to come enjoyed it and found it informative.
We also managed to fit in some phonics sessions. This week we have learnt: 'sh' (special friends) and 'r'.
Please feel free to reinforce as you like over the half term holiday.
Hopefully the children have been able to tell all of you at home all about our healthy and active week - all about food and teeth and other things we've discussed that help keep us healthy like hand washing and quiet, reflective time for a healthy mind.
And hopefully a week off will help that!
Have a great half term.
And please send on dojo anything you want to share from the week.!
