Healthy and Active week!
We have had a fantastic week to learn about how to look after our bodies. We have learnt about mental and physical health and what we can do to look after our whole body. We discussed what makes her feel happy, calm and excited and then shared when we may feel sad, frustrated or angry. We decided that it is ok not to be ok and that we have lots of people (aswell as ourselves) who can help us when we are in need.
As well as talking about our health, we did yoga with a specialist yoga teacher, played Boccia in the hall, met and spoke to Melissa Reid about her perseverance and determination. We were lucky enough to hold her Bronze medal that she won at the Paralympic games in Rio in 2016.
We learnt about a healthy plate and what types of food we need to eat for a healthy and balances diet. We were all able to identify the unhealthy and the healthy foods and drinks.
On Wednesday we opened the classroom to doors to welcome parents to join us in making a healthy packed lunch box. We chose a main, vegetable snack, fruit snack and a sweet snack. We made our own packed lunch labels too.
On Thursday, we became Superheroes!! We were visited by the Police who taught us about what they wear, how we contact them (only in an emergency) and what their job is. We were then joined by police dogs who impressed us with their super speed and listening ears. We were very excited and loved meeting everyone! We were also very lucky to meet a firefighter who spoke to us about their protective clothing, how quick they have to be in the fire engine and what they have to do in their job.
THANK YOU to all of our real life heroes for visiting us and for your continued effort and time in keeping people safe.
