Happy Summer Holiday - keep safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing children and families back to school on Thursday 5th September 2019

Week Ending 16th November 2018

This week in Mawgan Porth Class we have been continuing to learn about the four Seasons. We used play-dough to make items related to the seasons and described them using adjectives. We then joined our ideas together using 'and', being careful to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces when we wrote our sentences.
In Maths we have been using our knowledge of addition and subtraction to solve problems. We have started to answer questions by saying 'I know this because...' to show our mathematical understanding. We have also been looking at addition fact families, and asking, 'does the equals sign always have to go towards the end of the number sentence?'
We celebrated Remembrance Sunday by writing a thank you letter to the soldiers of WW1 for their bravery and courage. We also watched a video of some very silly birds and asked 'what is bullying?' and 'what should we do if we see it?' to discuss anti-bullying week.
In Science we discussed what we have learnt about Seasons so far and came up with some fantastic questions about what we would like to know, such as, 'how hot does it get in the summer?' and 'how much rain falls in the autumn?'
Well done everybody and have a great weekend!
