Week ending 15.6.18

Well done to Lydia and Luke for their DOJO certificates.
We have been busy with poetry this week in literacy. We have been performing poetry to the rest of the class in small groups, we have been discussing poetry and re-writing a poem as a group.
In maths we have been recapping our inverse for multiplication and division to show that multiplication is commutative which mean it can be done in any order but division cannot (it must always start with the biggest number).
In ICT we have re-visited cubism creating cubism castles and in geography we have been looking at the features of the seaside focusing on our senses which has lined well in to our poetry writing.
On Thursday whilst some children were out at the Commonwealth Games we spent time with Fistral outside doing measuring. We found out that the gazebo is 229cm tall and the stage is 330cm or 3 metres and 30 centimetres.
On Thursday many of the children went to the Commonwealth Games in Newquay and represented the school.
Alfie and Darcey took part in athletics, Faith, Ruby and Teo represented us in swimming, Ruby D and Ray took part in golf and Aronas and Ariele represented us in tennis winning their challenge with Taya and Felix from Fistral.
We also had a team competing in 'Wake and Shake' preforming a dance routine taught by Amelia, Chloe and Lucy from Year 6. Lydia, Holly, Annabel, Hayley, Jamie and Sowena took part doing a dance routine to the Eye of the Tiger. Everyone made us very proud and were a credit to the school and of course Holywell!
