Parent Open Afternoon has changed from Monday 1st July to Monday 8th July, this is due to Active Week

Week Ending 12th October 2018

This week Mawgan Porth class have been learning all about how to keep themselves safe. They did a terrific job of safely walking down to the church to celebrate the harvest festival and sang beautifully. On World Mental Health Day we discussed our emotions and how we can keep our minds healthy. We also learnt about e-safety and some golden rules for keeping safe online, such as always ask a grown up before watching a video.
We have been very busy in our publishing office, writing newspaper reports about the life of Florence Nightingale. The children have been using their super Literacy skills to write sentences using our Wow Words!
In Maths we have been using outdoor materials to represent addition number sentences. Our ongoing project to investigate which materials would be best to make a superhero safety helmet lead us to sort materials into two groups- manufactured and natural.
Another busy and exciting week in Year One, well done everyone! We look forward to next week which will be Healthy and Active Week at St Columb Major, where we will be focusing on how to keep our minds and bodies healthy!
To Sydney and Josh for receiving our Pupil Achievement Certificates for your fantastic attitude to learning and perseverance in your handwriting improvement!
