Week ending 12.10.18

Well done to Levan and Riley for their Dojo certificates this week!

We've had a great week with trips out including Harvest at the church and a visit to the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre.

We've been busy writing fact files this week about a chosen animal, most of us chose bats as we have learnt lots about them. We've been creating sub headings and answering questions such as Where do they live and what do they eat? What do they look like? We've been working hard to include conjunctions including 'because' and 'and'. We've also been using 'Did you know' questions again.

In maths we have been telling the time to half past and o'clock then having a go at quarter past - Mrs Dalton was so impressed at our time telling! We made giant clocks on our tables and made the times too. Then we have been looking at money, counting money and making amounts in different ways.

On Wednesday we spent the day at the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre. We had a fantastic day looking at all of the different species and answering quizzes.  We had a flying demonstration and a talk from Andy too. We were introduced to the burrowing owl called Twig and a giant grey owl named Cobweb who was beautiful!

To end our busy week we have been learning about the seven continents of the world. We heard a very catchy song to help us remember it- watch it below!

Next week is active week - we will be joined on Monday by Paralympic Melissa Reid who will be talking to us in assembly then spending time with each year group. We will also be trying our dancing, boccia and skateboarding.

Please come and join us on Wednesday afternoon where we will be designing and making a healthy lunchbox. Parents are welcome from 1:30 - please bring a box! If you are unable to make it please send in a box! We will then be breaking up for half term on the Thursday and returning to school on Tuesday 30th October.
