We have been learning the story of Beowulf. We used the story map to show the sections and made up actions to help us remember it. It only took us about 20 minutes to remember 5 paragraphs! (So impressive!)
We worked on an activity called 'running dictation'. We had sections of the text placed around the playground and had to memorise a line each for our team members to write down. We had to look carefully to work out what order the text should be in.
We went on to create scenes on A3 paper in pairs, we used captions and speech bubbles to show the section of the story we had chosen, we ordered them as a class to show the whole story.
We have started to create plans for our new stories next week. Mrs. Wakefield can't wait to read all our dark and gory ideas!
We have focused on Art this week and have produced some great displays to brighten up Tolcarne. We have painted Saxon helmets, designed a reading quest for our accelerated reader challenge and have made some line drawings focused on texture using different types of drawing pencils.
The class have amazed me with their creative skills and attention to detail. We are going on to look at figures and how to draw people. For extra dojos, why not look up Lowry and see how he represented the people in his paintings?
