A good week back after the half term break.
We have been working hard on our number work this week. We have undertaken lots of practical work on adding '1 more' to a given number. We have tried to record these number problems as a number sentence, e.g. 1 + 1 = 2.
We have also been practising writing our numbers using the Forming Numbers rhymes (the sheet we sent home a few weeks ago). The children are really enjoying this and singing the rhymes over & over &...!
In PE we started a new theme. We are using balls to build up the skills to throwing and catching - rolling, then bouncing, then throwing & catching. We've only had one lesson so it's still a work in progress - balls ALL over the hall! But the children really enjoyed the activities and did really well. You can see an example in the video below.
We have also completed the latest assessments in phonics. There has been lots of progress all round, so a big thank you to all of you for your help and support at home. Continuing this support as we carry on moving forward with our learning is a huge help and will benefit the children enormously.
Just FYI, as well as World Book Day next Thursday (pyjamas ahoy!) next week we will be exploring Chinese New Year. We will find out all about the story of the animals & why each year has an animal's characteristics tied to it. More info in next week's blog!
