We hope you had a good Easter break - not too many eggs!
We have started back looking at rhyming strings. We are basing this at first on the story 'Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy'. There are lots of animals with rhyming descriptions and lots of other rhymes throughout the story. We have also looked at other Hairy Maclary books and other similar stories by the same author, Lynley Dodd. The children are really enjoying the books. We will be looking at other rhyming poetry in the future.
In maths we have been looking at counting numbers to 20 and using a number line to count on to find a larger number. We also looked at sharing and how to share fairly. The decision was to count one at a time, then it would work out!
The children have been quite into 'music' this week - maybe more like noise making! They made their own instruments and used these and the instruments outside to sing & play & dance. So creative!
We had our first outdoor PE session. Unfortunately the coach will not be starting until next week! but we had a good time anyway, practising the ball skills we learned last term. We also used beanbags, bats & balls and hoops.
In the future these sessions will always be outside, for us on a Wednesday afternoon. This, of course, is weather permitting but it will often be sunny and warm, it being the summer term! So it would be great if everybody could send in a PE kit consisting of a t-shirt, shorts, socks and suitable footwear to change into for either the grass or top (tarmac) playground.
