What a fantastic week in Watergate class!
The children have really engaged in our animal topic and have been keen to find out information that they don't know. We used the internet to find out what a 'yak' was following our phonics session learning 'y'.
The children are doing amazingly in phonics and their letter formation is rapidly improving, with many forming words and some making short sentences!
In maths we have been learning about taller and shorter and longer and shorter. The children found a giant bears footprint in the classroom and used a variety of resources to measure different things that could be taller and shorter.
This lead into conducting a hunt to find the bear! Some of the children found some more footprints in the garden, and they came up with the thought that the bear was searching for somewhere to hibernate! What an amazing thought. We had a discussion about what hibernation was, and this then lead into discussing nocturnal animals! A really great discussion.
Thank you for your efforts and donations on Friday for Children in Need.
I can't wait to see what next week brings.
