wk ending 14th June

Porth has had a fantastic week being busy on the farm. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the morning out in the sunshine. The children enjoyed seeing the animals and learning about the ear tags and birth certificates that all calves need. We were all impressed with Rosie the sheep dog and how she rounded up the sheep and calves. We looked at the various crops and how the farmer sews, feeds and harvests them. We were lucky to see swallows and the nests that are in the barn. As we walked down the lane, Mrs Retallick taught the children about various wild flowers and looked at the crops and animals in the field. When we got back to the classroom we looked at a map of the world and talked about where the various breeds of cow come from and how far the swallows flew to nest at Mrs Retallicks farm.

In Maths this week we have been adding and subtracting numbers and recording double number stories in our books. The children also thought about as many ways as they could to make 6. We thought about all the possibilities with adding and some of the children were also able to use some subtraction number stories to make 6.

In literacy this week, the children wrote the middle part to their story about Goldilocks's future adventures. Next week we will think about the ending.

We all went to the field over the road for PE and practiced our football skills in teams. We practiced passing the ball to each other and aiming into a goal.
