Wk ending 23rd February

Thank you to all the parents who came to support our Year 1 assembly this week. The children were very excited to share their learning with you. They were proud to wear the T shirts they had designed and enjoyed singing their animal songs.
It was very daunting for some of the class to get up and perform and we had practised lots to try and be loud and clear. I was very impressed and proud of Mawgan Porth for being brave and showing you how talented and clever they are.

We have been learning how to measure the length or height of different objects this week. We began by measuring with blocks and comparing different objects. We put them in order of size and described them as the longest or shortest. We measured our heights again and saw how much we had grown. Logan and Vinnie had grown the most since November but Corey is definitely still the tallest.
We started using rulers to measure in centimetres. We know that there are 100 cms in a metre. We selected classroom objects and measured them. We measured features of pictures and labeled them. We had to compare our measurements to someone else measuring the same thing to see if our results were the same. If they were different we measured it again to see who was right. We learnt some new words including; prediction, accurate, measurement, length and height. We enjoyed working together and drawing straight lines. It was not as easy as it looked!
