January 2019
This term we have begun learning to play the violin. The children are making the most of this fantastic opportunity as we have a whole class set of violins and a brilliant teacher. The children have already been learning several tunes and last week began to use bows.
The children have loved our topic of Inventors and especially the work we have been completed on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In Literacy we have written adventure stories based on the story. The children have been developing their grammar skills and focusing on adverbial starters for sentences.
In Maths we have been working on measure. So far we have worked with money and are currently working on converting units of length. This has helped us to apply our knowledge of place value and calculation that we were working on last term.
Half of the class have finished their Forest School sessions and the other half have just begun. These are always enjoyed by all. The same is true of French where the children have been practising their numbers in a range of songs and games.
In ICT we have been coding. The children have been using Scratch to control 'Sprites' to create shapes on screen.
In PE we have been learning hockey and health related fitness.
