Autumn 2 -2019

This half term, we have been studying suspense stories based on a short video and text called Alma. We learnt about using suspense writing features such as short sentences; similes and metaphors; and ellipses within our writing. We also looked at how we can use dialogue to help develop and move our stories on.
In Maths this half term, we finished off our work on the four operations and we moved on to fractions. We have been looking at developing our fluency within these mathematical areas as well as our problem solving and reasoning.
We have been studying Geography, where we have been comparing the Americas and Cornwall. In our Science work, we have been learning about Evolution and Inheritance as well as starting our Light topic. We finished our work on the Vikings and moved on to start our learning on the Ancient Islamic Civilisations.
All the staff were amazed with the effort and performance which the children gave at their Christmas carol service in the church. They all spoke so clearly and sang confidently and beautifully.
