Autumn 1 - 2019

Welcome all to the first blog of this year for Watergate.

It has been a very busy term with everyone starting & settling well.

Tapestry is now up & running and hopefully you will be able to keep up with what we are all doing.

We have started our topic of Autumn as those of you who visited for the Open Morning will have seen. The children are learning all about the changes that Autumn brings and what happens to the animals and living things during the season.

We met Caroline from Prickles and Paws, the hedgehog hospital, and she told us all about hedgehogs and where they live, what they eat and what they do in Autumn. We learnt the words: hibernate; nocturnal; and hoglet.
We have also made hedgehogs in class - thanks parents who came to the Open Morning and helped! These will be added to the Autumn display once dried.

We celebrated Harvest in our class with lots of contributions for the local foodbank - thank you so much for your support. We learnt all about it being a time to give thanks.

Phonics is well underway also. We have learned the sounds up to 'f'. Please practice identifying and writing the sounds learnt so far with your children.

To finish the half term we have had a great time in Active and Healthy week. Lots of new games and sports to try. It was fab!
