Day of Action for Climate Change Parents and pupils may be aware that Friday 20th September will mark another day of global action and protest, to raise awareness and understanding of the many complex issues surrounding global Climate Change. Kernow Learning Trust recognises the vital importance of educating our pupils about the developing climate emergency, and have committed as a Trust to ensuring that all of our schools work to ensure that our pupils know that they are Global Citizens with a responsibility for our global environment. Every school in the Trust has a ‘Global Learning’ Leader and all schools are currently engaging in training to deliver ‘Global Learning’ to their staff. We cannot encourage pupils to be absent from school on this Friday, due to our duty of care for our pupils, but we have decided to enable pupils to show their solidarity with the Climate Change movement through a series of initiatives in our schools in the forthcoming weeks and months ahead. Our schools will teach more about the challenges that we face through issues such as plastic pollution, recycling and saving energy. We are very proud to have Eden as a member of our Trust and so consideration of the challenges that will face our children’s generation, and how they can influence future developments through their actions is never far from our Trust discussions.

Another busy and fun filled week.

We have been learning about our routines at home to get ready for bed and school. The children had to order pictures of how they get themselves ready and how the routines are similar at either end of the day. The children also talked about how to stay clean and looked at objects such as sponges, brushes soap etc. We discussed why this is important and how as they grow they learn to look after themselves more independently such as brushing their own teeth and taking a shower or bath. Finally we talked about our families. We looked at pictures and discussed how every family is different, but are there to support us and help us with our morning and bed time routines and keeping ourselves and clothes clean. The children talked about their own family structure and drew a picture of their family.

On Thursday, all of Early Years children went to the beach. The children had a fantastic time and were impeccably well behaved. We built sand castles, made dams in the stream and explored the rock pools and sea life. The children enjoyed gathering shells and playing with their friends. Thank you so much for all the support from parents on the trip - we really couldn't have done it without you. I think the dads had as much fun in the stream building dams as the children!

Finally we finished our week with our Graduation. It was lovely to see so many of you there. The children have grown so much and are excited about their move to Year 1.
