Annual implementation of policy

Special Educational Needs (SEN) at St Columb Major Academy

Our SEN Team:

SENCO: Mrs Tracey Milsom

Assistant SENCO & PSA: Mrs Penny Cherry

SEN Governor: Mrs Charlotte Roose

Dyslexia Trained Teacher: Miss Rosie Brogden

Dyslexia Champion: Mrs Julianna Allan

1:1 Teaching Assistants (including Autism trained support)
We provide SEN support in a number of different ways:
  • Additional adult support during lessons
  • Teaching Assistant support or focused Group Support to learn the skills required to make progress.
  • We encourage & value support from many outside agencies including Speech and Language therapists, Physiotherapists, Educational Psychologist (Ed Psych) and County Advisors/ Support workers.
If you think your child may have special educational needs: e.g. your child may not be happy, may be struggling in class, is showing some behaviour issues which are cause for concern, in the first instance , you can communicate your concerns to your child’s class teacher. We encourage communication with you at all times and teachers will speak to you if they are concerned your child is not making the progress they should be in their school life. Alternatively you may also contact Mrs Penny Cherry, our Assistant SEN Co-Ordinator (SENCO), who holds responsibility for SEN here at St Columb Major ACE Academy with Mrs Tracey Milsom.
Please use the Contact form on our website for your initial enquiry.

If your child isn’t in a school or nursery, you may contact the Local Authority or your family doctor.

Further guidance is provided within our SEN policy and will be updated here when changes are implemented.
